One of the great hopes of Libere 2012 would be domestic churches sponsoring Haitian churches, so that not only would the basic needs of orphans be met, but a new relationship would be forged for continued prayer, communication, and even ministry partnership.
Since the start of Libere 2012 challenge, several churches have contacted us about sponsoring a church by meeting the goal of $5000 for a particular church. I’m excited to share with you that the first church to sponsor a Haitian church is Grace Baptist Church, Cape Coral, Florida. Grace Baptist is sponsoring the church in Desarmes–a church they have known and ministered in several times over the past year.
There are currently 192 orphans in the church and school in Desarmes, a community situated in the anti-bonite region of Haiti where cholera is a constant threat to the health of the community. By providing a yearly supply of food and dozens of water filtration systems, members of the church in Desarmes, as well as the children, will be able to no longer function on survival mode and begin the work of community development they so desperately need.
Are you a church leader looking to invest in gospel proclamation, biblical education, and practical mercy ministry to those in a most desperate situation? If so, please consider supporting Libere 2012 and sponsoring a church in Haiti!
