One year ago, we embraced the challenge to provide a food supply and delivery system for all the orphans under the direct care of our indigenous network of churches in Haiti. During that time, we have seen God’s provision meet the most practical and urgent need of orphans in Haiti.
Sadly, during that same time, we have seen additional challenges arise as well. Many of our churches in Haiti are situated in the anti-bonite region where cholera became a widespread threat and thousands died. Due to the spread of this water-born disease, the number of orphans in each orphan school and orphanage increased. And while the food was made available, clean and safe drinking water become a precious commodity few could afford to buy.
The total number of orphans in the 13 Haitian churches of our indigenous network has grown to 1,572 (as of November 2011). What this means is that the necessary relief and development have caused a greater demand. Nevertheless, we believe that God has an abundant provision in God’s people to help us meet those needs. In fact, every orphan–all 1,572 of them–are reasons we believe you should join us.
Libere 2012 is a relief initiative of The Haiti Collective to provide not only food but also clean and safe drinking water for all 1,572 children, along with education provided through church-based orphan schools. Together with your help, we believe the financial supply line and system will adequately care for the most basic needs of these orphans in Haiti. Your support will make all the difference, and we prayerfully hope you will join us!
