What We Will Be Doing in Haiti

Our mission team will be in Haiti for a total of ten days.  We have two main objectives: (1) rebuild the building of the mother church in Desarmes as well as start construction on a multi-level orphanage, and (2) provide a gospel conference for Haitian pastors at our own expense to bless, encourage, and instruct.

There are seven men on the construction team, and they will be working alongside about 20 Haitian men skilled in construction as well.  The type of work includes masonry, welding, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical.  One of the biggest challenges is getting the necessary generators and welding equipment to the construction site.  While one generator is there, another one along with the welder is en route by ship as I write this blogpost.  Please pray that we are able to secure this equipment through customs promptly and begin the work as soon as we set foot on Haitian turf.

Since we made the announcement about the gospel conference, 13 additional Haitian pastors have joined the conference, bringing the total number of Haitian ministry leaders to 50.  They will be coming from across the country, and we have purposely scheduled each day with periods of rest and relaxation for our Haitian brothers to give them time to fellowship together and enjoy a little time to themselves.

A few minor objectives we hope to accomplish also include a visit to Mission of Hope headquarters in Titanyen, visit to Chantel’s orphanage to plan out a possible VBS for 150 orphans in Saint-Marc, learn more about the food distribution system for orphans in churches we are supporting, and consider housing & construction options for Pastor Joseph.

Tomorrow, I will provide you will some specific ways you can pray for our team as we leave.
